Wave

Pregnancy & Infant Loss (PAIL) Remembrance Day is officially recognized by the U.S. congress after H.R. 222 was passed in 2005, and is to be commemorated every year thereafter. Originally this Month was set aside for Remembrance and Awareness of Pregnancy and Infant Loss by then President Ronald Reagan in 1988.

One year since Bridget's death, and seven years since Dominic died. We have experienced multiple miscarriages as well. We know of many other infants who died shortly before or after birth, or in their first year. We also know of many who have experienced a miscarriage or multiple miscarriages. I think this commemorative gesture is a very thoughtful one to acknowledge the brief lives and hope for life of these children, born and unborn, that families will always carry-- though their grief is very individual and sometimes so lonely and private.

We are asking everyone in all times zones, worldwide, to join us in a candle lighting ceremony at 7pm on October 15th, 2008. For more information, please visit http://www.october15th.com
